Day 1 – Melbourne to Apollo Bay

Embark on an exclusive and luxurious tour with us as we journey along the world-famous Great Ocean Road, renowned for its stunning coastal views and pristine rainforests. On this tour visit all the sights that you can’t see on a day trip, even a two day trip. Our journey begins in Melbourne as we head west to Anglesea, the starting point of this breathtaking drive. The section from Fairhaven to Lorne is a sight to behold, and we make stops at Split Point Lighthouse and the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch for stunning photo opportunities.

In Lorne, we visit the spectacular Erskine Falls and Teddy’s Lookout, followed by lunch. We then head to Kennett River to witness koalas in their natural habitat. We then head through the ancient Otway National Park and explore the forest with a magnificent walk through Maits Rest. Our destination for the night is in the quaint Apollo Bay, but the day is not done yet.

Take an evening walk at Wildlife Wonders. Along the way your conservationist guide will share with you the secrets of the bush and the plants and animals who call the Otways home. Each nature tour will have a unique experience, encountering our beautiful Australian animals living freely, as they would be in the wild. It’s almost certain you will see koalas, but you might also be lucky enough to spot a potoroo, bandicoot and many other amazing Australian animals that call Wildlife Wonders home.

Day 2 – Apollo Bay to Port Campbell

In the morning our first stop is the Cape Otway Lighthouse, the oldest surviving lighthouse on mainland Australia and considered the most significant. This leading attraction on the Great Ocean Road is a must for all visitors.

Built in 1848, the lighthouse known as the ‘Beacon of Hope,’ sits 90 metres above the pristine ocean of Bass Strait.

Hundreds of lives were lost along this shipwreck coast – a sad but fascinating history which led to the building of the Lightstation on the cliffs edge. For many thousands of 19th century migrants, who spent months travelling to Australia by ship, Cape Otway was their first sight of land after leaving Europe, Asia and North America.

Next stop is the Otway Fly. The 600 metre-long, 25 – 30 metre-high elevated walkway provides unrivalled views of the unique beauty of the region’s flora and fauna, from the rainforest floor up into the soaring heights of the treetops.

Don’t miss the 47 metre tall Spiral Tower and the cantilever perched above Young’s Creek – a truly exhilarating experience as you gently sway with the rainforest canopy.

After lunch we head to the beautiful Gibson’s Steps where we’ll take a narrow path down to the beach to get up close and personal with the towering cliffs and the remaining stacks. Check in to your accommodation for the night at Port Campbell and relax and have dinner then at sunset when the crowds have gone we see one of the highlights of this tour, the famous 12 Apostles, a sight that will leave you in awe as you witness the stacks rise precariously from the powerful Southern Ocean.

Day 3 – Port Campbell to Melbourne

In the morning there are even more incredible sights including Lock Ard Gorge, London Bridge, The Grotto, and Bay of Islands. Seeing these great locations with hardly any people around makes it so much more enjoyable.

We then start heading inland and a gourmet food trail sure to impress. Schultz Organic Dairy Schulz is 50 years and three generations of family working towards the most sustainable dairy farm and most pure product possible.

The Timboon Railway Shed Distillery offers a distillery experience in a location with a real ‘sense of place’. Food and whisky to inspire, share and replenish the traveller’s soul. The railway shed dates back to the 1800s and has been beautifully restored with many original features maintained.

Established in October 1999, Timboon Fine Ice Cream has been crafting their famous ice cream for the past 24 years on their property. As a 3rd-generation dairy farmer, Tim has a real connection to the land. His grandfather was a progressive farmer who developed early irrigation practices in the 1940s and his dad was one of the first farmers in the district to milk ‘a cow to the acre’ in the 1970s. Adding value to their family dairy operation was the key motivation in exploring and developing the brand that has become Timboon Fine Ice Cream.
