Day 1 – Melbourne to Halls Gap

Embark on an epic journey through the stunningly beautiful Grampian mountain ranges of Victoria, where adventure and luxury combine for an unforgettable experience. Your local guide will pick you up from your accommodation and whisk you away to the heart of the wilderness.

Marvel at the majestic Mackenzie’s Falls and experience some of the best lookout points in the region. Admire the panoramic views of Halls Gap and the east of the Grampians from the Boroka Lookout, where the stunning sunrise views will leave you breathless.

Continue your adventure with a visit to Reeds Lookout and The Balconies, two spectacular locations accessible from one car park. Take an easy 2km walk to The Balconies for views of The Victoria Valley and surrounding ranges.

As dusk descends, keep an eye out for kangaroos, wallabies, and many of our famous wild birds. Retreat to your luxurious accommodation in Halls Gap to freshen up before heading out for dinner at your choice of top-rated restaurants, just a short walk away.

Day 2 – Halls Gap to Melbourne

After a restful sleep and breakfast, you have a couple of options. Head to the iconic Pinnacle walk and lookout. One of the highlights of the entire Grampians region, hikers are rewarded with stunning views of Halls Gap and the Grampians’ many peaks. Visitors have a choice of three trails to reach The Pinnacle, each varying in distance and grade.

Alternatively visit the historic vineyard of Seppelt. Explore Seppelt Wines heritage-listed underground cellars which took more than 60 years to dig by unemployed gold diggers to dig the 3 kilometres of tunnels which can hold 3 million bottles of wine. The tour concludes with a tasting of Seppelt Sparkling Shiraz, first made in the Seppelt Great Western Cellars in the early 1890s.

Have a lunch you won’t forget at the acclaimed Royal Mail Hotel in Dunkeld (Thur – Sat only), featuring as its centrepiece the region’s fine local produce and famed sparkling and cool-climate wines set against the stunning backdrop of Mt Abrupt.

After lunch visit Halls Gap Zoo. It is Victoria’s largest regional zoo set on 52 acres of land exhibiting over 160 native and exotic mammals, reptiles and birds from cheetah, giraffe, meerkats, monkeys, red pandas and bison to kangaroos, koalas, Tassie devils, wombats, crocodiles, snakes and dingoes.

Visitors have the opportunity to have close encounters with a number of species while at Halls Gap Zoo. Special animal food can be purchased to hand feed kangaroos, wallabies and deer or as an optional extra experience meerkats climbing onto your lap, feed the giraffe or rhino, go in with the dingoes or perhaps holding a reptile would appeal before our return to Melbourne.
